Blossom

In the hustle and bustle of last spring, we did not plant flowers.  We have planters on the back deck and a half rain barrel in front of the house that we fill with the perennial of our fancy each year.

Despite our "neglect" - we received a pleasant gift from the soil in the rain barrel this year...

For so many reasons this brings me joy - not the least of which is the knowledge that life and beauty may survive and abound even in spaces that have been ignored for a bit.  Just below the surface, powerful forces are at work.

If we are looking, we see symbols for ourselves that correlate to our own lives, right?  Messages of great hope and comfort.

"And the time came when the risk to remain tight in a bud
was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."
 Anaïs Nin
