I so clearly remember how excited I was about graduating high school. Now, that I'm a parent, I see the whole thing from another perspective.
I have no desire to "freeze time" for my child - I want her to continue to grow and become more independent, but I'm sure glad there is a way to "hold" moments so that they can be revisited and cherished all the more.
A few weeks ago, I took photos of this beautiful gal...
She is gorgeous, yes, but more important - she has this easy confidence that comes out in the way she will look directly at you when she speaks to you, in her athleticism and simply in the way she carries herself.
She is independent, and yet watching her interact with her mother and her youngest brother, I was aware of how much family means to her. No matter where she goes, home will always be a foundation.
She is intelligent, creative and oh boy - she's going places.
The whole time I was photographing her I kept hearing the lyrics to a popular song right now in my head...
"We are young
So let's set the world on fire
We can burn brighter
Than the sun"
You go girl!! and please take all my best wishes for a brilliant future with you.
Lisa
